Nanette Perrotte

Nanette began her study of music at the age of eleven with voice lessons in Classical, Broadway, Jazz, Country and Rock.  Her BA is from Berklee College of Music in Boston and her MA Ed. is from Lesley University in Cambridge.  Her first of many rock bands, G.I.R.L (Get it Real Loud) was formed when she was twelve.

Perrotte works as a performer, composer and educator.  Her teaching at the Master’s level is for Endicott College in Beverly, MA and undergraduate for The New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester NH.  Nanette specializes in using music and voice to focus and de-stress students, and to improve public speaking.

Nanette and her husband, Sebastian Lockwood produced the project Emily Dickinson- Zero at the Bone a live show and CD that highlights the contemporary power of poet Emily Dickinson. This one woman performance puts the poetry of Emily Dickinson to Nanette’s original rock, pop and jazz music while Nanette provides a gripping storyline woven through the songs.  In performance, Nanette channels the spirit and vitality of Dickinson into the powerful music and contemporary feeling of the show.

The Nanette Perrotte Jazz Combo released a cd “I Remember You” that highlights the music of lyricist Johnny Mercer as well as original jazz and country tunes.

Voice &Yoga is a program developed by Perrotte integrating vocal sound with yoga postures and meditation. Voice &Yoga works for musicians to ground performances and expand musicality.  Working professionals also enjoy the class to focus creativity, enhance people managing skills and relax from work stress.

Sebastian Lockwood

Sebastian Lockwood works as a traveling bard, teacher and writer.  His earliest studies involved non-literate peoples and storytelling – studying Homer and Haida at the same time.

At Boston University it was Anthroplogy, Classics and Literature – and at Cambridge University, on the banks of the River Cam, it was an MA in Education, and an MA in Anthropology, again studying story.

Then follows teaching, writing and performing on the Poetry Circuit and experimenting with Improv.  The first performance of Homer’s Odyssey, with Flamenco guitar, was at Club Passim, Cambridge, 1999.  Since then Lockwood has added, The Epic of Gilgamesh – CAESAR: the Man from Venus – Beowulf – Monkey: A Journey to the West; and a sequence of Owl Tales.

When not being Caesar or Odysseus, Lockwood teaches Storytelling and Anthropology at The New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire and occasionally in the Art & Creativity programs for Lesley University and Endicott College.

He lives under Crotched Mountain with Nanette, Milo & Lilac.

Sebastian is a member of the New Hampshire Artists Roster.
